Any thoughts on pros/cons of using my ethernet cable, vs. buying a Firewire 800 cable to connect two MacBooks? I'm migrating the data from my old MacBook to a new MacBook Pro.

Your Mac's Specs
13" Unibody MacBook 2.26 2gb RAM, Ipod Touch 8gb 1st Gen, Ipod Touch 8gb 2nd Gen, eMac.
I would advise using firewire. I have done this with my computer and my new Unibody MacBook and firewire is fast and hassle free.

Let me know how it goes!

With migration it's much simpler to use Firewire :)

Migration using Ethernet falls under the category of "Science Project".
By the time you figure out how to make it work, you could have migrated 3 times via firewire.
