I can't watch episodes of Simpsons on Fox's website using my MBP. I haven't had the time to attempt it on my Dell desktop because it takes FOREVER to start up and navigate, etc. Too slow! Anyways, just wondering if this is a known issue. I couldn't find anything on the FOX website that said what your system requirements needed to be to watch episodes online. Maybe it's only compatible with Windows....

Come to think of it, I may have had the same problem with one of the other networks (CBS?). NBC always works fine on my Mac, so I know it's not the computer. :\

Well, it KIND of works for me. I can view the commercials, at least

But this isn't likely an FF issue, more of an issue of the FOX website seeing that I'm not in the U.S. right now and they only stream within the U.S. However.. it's weird because previously, I was unable to watch Hulu and was having problems after installing Snow Leopard streaming from our Netflix account. Using Hotspot Shield worked just fine with Netflix before Snow Leopard but now I have to use HS Shield in conjunction with something else in order for it to work seamlessly AND, Hulu works just fine.

The FOX player does work, but after the 15 second commercial, it doesn't load the actual videos. I'm going to try and get it to work though.

Why not just use Hulu in the first place ?

I can't view the content here but it appears that it is Flash based. Are you having trouble with Flash on any other pages? What do you mean by it won't work? Error messages?

I've got it working. When I read the manual install directions I discovered that it is only compatible with Firefox. So I closed Safari and brought up FF. Then it worked perfectly for me. In Safari, the player window appears, but the video never loads. I'm running OS X 10.6.2 and FF 3.5.5.

That is strange. Running Safari 4.0.4 here with 10.5.8 on an iMac G5 iSight. Player installed. Movies play. Was watching Cops. Looked fine.

Yup, that's what I meant by "not working". :\

Maybe it's a SL issue since dtravis7 can play in 10.5.8.

I don't have FF, but if I knew for sure it would solve my problem I would dl it.

Since I've gotten a HTPC, hadn't been on Fox on my Mac since SL.

Results, same as VegasGeorge.
Window opens and then just sits there in Safari.
FF loads up and plays beautifully.

And yes, my system is up to date. I don't jump on the boat the first day any more, but I'm still there there the first week.

Just on a side note: if Safari is the only browser you have installed, I'd recommend installing both FF and Opera as backups.

I just tried it on my C2D Mini with 10.6.2 and latest updates. Same as Bobtomay. I did some checking and it seems it's the player FOX is installing does not like Safari in SL. It installs but never plays the test sample.

It works fine with same version of Safari on my 10.5.8 iMac. I think we should all report it to Fox and maybe they can fix it.

Firefox does work great though in 10.6.

I found the issue. It's because Safari under 10.6.2 is running in 64-Bit mode. The Fox plugin that gets installed will not work in 64-Bit mode. Firefox runs only in 32-Bit mode so it works there.

I Right Clicked on Safari and Get Info and put a checkmark by Run in 32-Bit mode and launched Safari. Fox videos play perfectly.

Further report: I've now had some experience with the Fox player. Three times the audio from the player has come on as soon as I have accessed the Fox webpage. Then if I try to play one of the episodes I have two audio tracks playing at the same time. On three other occasions FF has crashed while the player is active. It freezes and is reported to have stopped responding, requiring a Force Quit. It does this when I try to escape out of full screen mode.

...AND it worked like a charm! I was able to watch the Simpsons episode I missed 2 weeks ago online last night.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions, guys!! (what a great forum) :D
