How can my iPod have when it says connect to iTunes (on the iPod).

So you have connected your iPod and it comes up in iTunes and asks you for a passcode ??
Is this correct ??

I think I had this exact problem.
What I did were the following steps:
1) put the iPod in recovery mode
2) updated my version of iTunes
3) re-downloaded the iPod firmware
And it worked again
