Lets say I want to just use the external monitor for awhile and want to "power off" the MacBook screen via screensaver or just plain turn it off. Is this possible? Screensaver kicks in, both monitors go off right now.

Thanks in advance.

Not too savvy on the Mac-specific dual screen functionality, but on other notebooks, an external display is an extension of the notebook's screen, so turning one off will turn the other off as well..I don't imagine it working any different on the Macbook..

Semi-solution

I set the external monitor as the main by moving the menu bar to the external via preferences and set the background image of the MacBook screen to completely black. Screen isn't off, but at least it's at minimal usage.
