price of macs to pc's

why are macs twice the price of pc's ????

i notice they have less spec compared to pc so why do thy perform better???

He is saying it's OSX that makes the Macs perform better. Not the hardware.

Generally the hardware (from the design to components) is better and Apple make and sell a lot less computers than the 'big names' so they can't give them away and still get a good profit margin.

Apple's customer support is also another benefit. You don't see Dell Stores etc and all of these cost money to run.

They're not "twice" the price. Do some comparison shopping and you'll soon see that it isn't true. Yes, you can buy some PCs at half the price of a Mac but what are you getting?

Take a look at the some of the top name brand PCs (Dell, HP, Sony) and compare specifications. Compare for example a new Sony Vaio with the current MBP 13". Make sure the Sony has the same specs. Now compare prices. I think you'll find there is very little price difference. Sony's two year extended warranty is actually a bit more expensive than Apple care.

See this thread for case in point.

Because the entry level PC's have CPU's such as Intel Celeron. Entry level Mac's have Intel Core 2 Duo which completely outperforms Intel Celeron. Plus the materials used are of a much higher quality.

If you look at PC's that try and have build quality of mac, then most of the time they are the same price or even more expensive....HP Envy?

I only changed to mac couple of days ago and so far love it, just hope it runs as smooth in the future
