We've had an iMac G5 for a while, and decided to move it to a different room. Because of this, we had to buy the Airport Extreme card to be able to achieve wireless internet on it. We purchased one from amazon, and installed it very carefully according to the manual.
The airport seems to be installed properly because we now get the airport "wave" symbol in the upper right hand corner of the screen, showing full bars with our wireless network. However, internet use is usually unbearably slow, despite the router only being a matter of feet away in the other room. Sometimes safari will report "you are not connected to the internet", other times (but rarely) the internet will seem normal, and then most of the time it will just be too slow. For example, 5-10 minutes to load bestbuy.com.
I've tried changing the wireless channel of the router from 1 to 11, and it doesn't seem to change anything. Could the card we bought be defective, even though it seems to be picking up the network full strength? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks!
