Snow leopard compatible snes emulator?

so i have a snes game pad and when i get my mbp replacement(it died hours after opening)i want an emulator that is safe for SL. when i did have it for those few hours, i put snes9x on it and it worked fine but im afraid it might cause problems down the road. the emulator zone says its for osx, but does not specifically say SL compatible. is it good to use on sL? thanks for any help
