setting up password on wireless router

how to set up a password on my wireless router....i have a linksys one but i have no clue on how to set a password up on it from my MacBook. i have like 10 neighbors and i get all their routers when my wireless searches but they have locks on theirs. mines the only one unlocked so they can scum off mine when theirs is down. please help me with this!!

Check this out, particularly half way down the page, where it has 'configure the router' ......

Then no-one without the password will be able to connect

Also, use WPA2 as a minimum encryption as WEP (and even WPA) can be cracked by freely available software, and a clued-up leecher nowadays....
