- Mac PowerBook 1.67 Ghz PowerPC G4/ 2 GB DDR SDRAM/ MAC OS X 10.5.8
So I just moved in to an awesome building and our landlord provides free wifi. He has provided the name and the password for this network.
I have a Powerbook PC G4 laptop, 1.64 ghz with 2 gigs of ram. Running OS X 10.5
Im running in to two problems:
1. When the network appears in the AirPort pulldown menu, I select it and type in the password and I get signal strength bars. But when I go to browse the internet using Safari or Firefox it says it can't find server.
Is this an IP issue?
In network settings under the TCP/IP tab I am set up as so:
IPv4: using DHCP
IPv6: Automatically
Ive tried to renew the DHCP lease and that doesnt do anything.
Is the internet router in the building not set up to connect to my mac?
2. The router is placed a bit far away from my apartment. So the signal itself is pretty weak. But if I were to walk towards the router and get full signal strength bars, I am still unable to actually browse via Safari.
Some insight would be helpful as networking is not my forté !
Thank you and merry xmas!
