eSata for MAcPro question

I have an early 2006 MAc Pro. I just added an eSATA board to run several drives. My OS start up now is taking about 5 minutes. The board is by Sonnet. Are there any ESata boards that do not cause the startup to be so long?

WOW! 5 Min? Have you checked to see if there are drivers you need?

Using a Dual Core, find eSATA are not worth the hassle. Still slower than Firewire, eg SuperDuper Smart Backup on Firewire is 11 minutes, 15 minutes via the SeriTek eSATA PCIE card and the darned thing is NOT bootable despite all marketing claims. Have a Firewire 800 case coming and hopefully this will be even faster.

I find that interesting. I have a PCIe eSATA card installed in my Quad G5 and hooked up to two SATA II drives that are internally mounted. They fly compared to FW 400, although I have not tried FW 800 yet. I can't imagine that an external drive hooked up to a card would be really slower, especially if your using fast SATA II (not ATA) drives.

SeriTek 2SE2 is SATA, not SATA 11 and G5's are SATA also so SATA to me is slower than Firewire 400 when connected to external drive. And the SeriTek allegedly is the only PCIE card that is bootable.
