iPod w/cracked screen, would apple accept it for service?

I've a 16GB 2nd generation iPod Touch & its screen was cracked.

I know the warranty isn't covering anything incident caused by accident.

Here goes my question:
If my iPod Touch is not functioning at all (not due to battery nor water), would apple accept it for service? Although I've a cracked screen.

My guessis that you would have to prove it wasn't the drop that broke the screen that has caused the problem and I don't know how you would go about doing that.

I've my way of making it as "no power",
Just don't know if they will decline the service
because of the cracked screen.
