^They disagree with you because "Open Computing" is not only against the law, but it hurts Apple because there are fewer people buying Apple's hardware, which means lower profit, which means Apple doesn't have enough money to keep on going, and that means no development (or perhaps even sales) of Mac OS X or the Apple computers or iPods or iPhones.

Open computing=BAD IDEA.

Agree with the above 100%.
And another senario with open computing is for Apple to make up revenues for lost hardware sales they'd have to have a MS vista/W7 pricing scheme for their OS. And we all know how silly that pricing scheme and different versions of the same thing is.

^Agreed. Why have 6 levels of Windows 7 when you could have one with all of the features! Microsoft could learn a lot from Apple.

On the other hand, if Apple started selling their own OS and making it available as an open operating system, it might pay off for them! Some people would still buy apple machines.

But one of the reasons our beloved osX is so stable is apple knowing exactly what hardware it will run on.

What is all this bickering about? It's illegal to distribute unauthorized copies of Mac OS X into non-Apple hardware. I don't see how that wasn't enough to understand. It does not matter what the needs of the people are, it doesn't matter if people want to put OS X on non-Apple hardware, it is against the law and Psystar got slammed for it.

The End.

It's not the breaking the law part people are worried about. That's why there are millions of criminals everywhere. it's the getting caught by authorites doing the bad stuff people really don't want. And silly Pystar got caught and busted. A smart company would not have got caught.

Mind you Apple's EULA makes it virtually anyone doing this on a mass scale impossible not to get caught. So yay to Apple.
