I just noticed that right beside the little hole for the built in mic on my ibook that theres a crack. Its not a scratch I can actually see in it. Its not huge but it's noticable when looking at it. Its not even 6 months old and I dont think this should be happening.

Is this covered by Applecare? I cant see how I could have caused it.

All external damamges should be covered within the warrenty period...maybe you shouldn't have been standing on you mic, if you didn't want it to break. haha, just kidding. Give apple a buzz, about it and see what happens...if they can't do anything 'cause you have voided the warrenty or it's past it's date...well..then you're screwed...and not in the good way.

Mines the Ibook G4 1.33Ghz. I called Apple and asked what was up with this and that I want something to happen about it. They told me to take it to a Authorized Specialist in a town near me. What will they do? Try and fix it or let Apple know to send me a new one because this is cracked?

They told you to go there because they cant see the crack over the phone and they want some one to look at it.

I understand that, so once they look at it do they attempt to fix it or do they contact Apple to let them know I was telling the truth?

It's up to them. My guess is that they will fill out the paperwork and take it from you and send it to Apple themselves.
