What is this famous "Ripple" effect that Dashboard has that everyone says is so cool. I don't see any ripple effect when using Dashboard or moving widgets around.

The Ripple effect is only available on Video Cards that support Core Image. Your Mac Mini's Video Card (ATI 9200) is not in the list of supported video cards.

You need an ATI 9600 or Higher or an Nvidia 5200 or higher.

Well, that explains it! :)

Yeah, don't worry about it. The novelty wears off, I promise. :)

Cheer yourself up by clicking on the shrink in dock yellow button in a window item whilst holding the shift key pressed in, just as cool.

The shift-key trick works also with Exposé and Dashboard...making everything in slow motion... useless, but cool

Somebody ought to post a screen shot of this.

A screen shot can't really show an animation...not even if it's in slow-motion...

Hmmm, LOL, I guess its pretty hard to capture the ripple effect in a screenshot, I tried. You can see the sticky has the ripple moving over it (deformed) -- the second shot is my normal desktop (without the Dashboard over it).
