Final Cut Import Video ProRes degrade quality?

I just wanted to know, I'm loggging and transfering HD footage but the only option for type is apple prores 422 (i forget the number). Does this mean if I export my movie that the video will be degraded? After I edit, will I have to reconnect all my footage to an HD source of the videos? Or when I export compressor and choose HD, will the quality return to the original.
