I've been using Time Machine for a few months now. Seems like it's doing the job. I just have a question about how it stores the files on my external drive.
I notice there is a folder called "backups.backupdb" on my drive and within that there is a folder for my computer "____iMac" and within that there are folders for each backup.
Here's my question.
If I go into these folders they all seem to contain all of the data on my computer (music, movies, documents), so about 200GB worth. That can't be though...there are several folders and if each one was 200GB well, you get the idea.
Is there a file it stores somewhere with the actual data and the folders just contain shortcuts to it or something?
I just ask because if I ever want to restore these files without TM I want to know how/where to go.
