Fan control

I recently installed SMC fan control on my new Macbook Pro 15". I have the 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB. To my surprise the SMC tells me that I only have a left side fan. I was told that there are two fans in the Macbook Pro. Is there a problem with the SMC, or do I only have one fan. Or even worse, do I have a defective right side fan???
Can anyone set me straight on this?
