Dim screen on a 12" g4

I just got a used powerbook g4. My first mac. The display is very dim. I have set the brightness to max compared to my pc laptop. Is this normal?

It could be a problem with the LCD on the machine. Im not sure how those LCDs are but some PCs use a cathode on the top and bottom, if one of those goes out it could cause the screen to appear very dim. There could also be an issue with the inverter board or something.

DO you know anyone else with a powerbook g4?

I only know one person with a mac and its a mac book.

Im not sure then. If you can find someone do a comparison with them. Other than that, well thats my best guess.
