I created an encrypted disk image and gave it a password. It worked fine for a couple of months but now it opens without asking for the password.

How can I correct this and regain the request for the password before it will open?

Check your Keychain. The password may be stored there and the system is opening the image that way. IOW, it may be doing it automatically.

Regards.

chscag's advice sounds spot-on. As for how to revert to asking for the password, open Keychain Access and then find and delete the key that corresponds with the disk image.
