I have a problem with my macbook, it was purchased less than a week ago and the battery seems to be dead. For some reason it will not work unless plugged in and as i am new to apple product i wanted to ask you could it be in some mode or something ? meaning could the problem be software related or should i send it for service ?

Thanks in advance

Did you charge it?

A little more info would be helpful.

He didn't ask if you "changed it", he asked if you attempted to charge the battery?

When you plug the machine into the AC outlet, does the orange light come on showing that the battery is charging?

If it doesn't, then clearly something is wrong. Return your machine to where you purchased it and ask for a new one.

Regards.

the light is green as if fully charged, but once you remove the charger it instantly goes off
