Superdrive not reading iLife CD

I have an iMac 17” G4 1.0ghz running OSX 10.3.9. I just bought iLife ’06 and when I popped the Cd into the superdrive, the disc did nothing – so spinning, nothing, and then it ejected the disc. When I researched iLife ’06, it required OSX 10.3.9 which I have. So as a low tech user, I’m scratching a hole into my head. Your help would stop me from reaching brain tissue…

Your Mac's Specs
MacMini 14.3, 8.1 & 4.1, OS 13.5, 10.14, & 10.11 & 10.6; Macbook Pro 8.2, OS 10.12.
Simple things first:
1. Do other disks work okay in the iMac optical drive?
2. Is there any sign of damage to or smudges on the iLife disk?
