Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Installing the Java for Mac OS X 10.6 update 1 for SL 10.6.2 gives an error message in disk utilities.
Permissions differ on "usr/share/derby", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x .
Repaired "usr/share/derby".
*which doesn't get repaired.

Java update has changed some things around and now /usr/share/derby is not a directory but a symbolic link pointing to /usr/share/java/derby from what I have researched.

I am trying to locate what has been moved around and where, to stop this message coming up.

I know I'm being finicky, but I like my permissions repairs to come up clean :)

Meanwhile I have reverted back to my time machine backup before I installed the Java update, and am holding back until I get a solution.

Thanks in advance :D

I have the same problem

I am about to try and send the Java that is on the hard drive to trash

Then copy and paste from my backup aka Time Machine an older Java folder to the hard drive to see if it will work

Then do an utilities check up to see if those same add on lines are still on Java

rr.rx or something like that that is noted as not suppose to be there

There's nothing wrong with the permissions. You can safely ignore them. Trashing java (or trying to) is bound to mess up your system.
