I followed this tutorial to get access to the serial port on the ipod touch 1g 2.2.1

I can get the c program to run fine on serial and it is reading in serial data, however, when I copy and paste this code into a real xcode project that calls a getNumber() function which tries to open /dev/tty.iap, I get the fileDescriptor=-1 and a permission denied. Does anyone know why this it? Thanks
