After Installing go to system preferences-->Other-->NTFS-3G-->make sure File System Caching Enabled & Filename Normalization Enabled ARE checked and you should be good. I have fixed my MBP and my house mates with this same driver. I was having slow transfers to and from every USB device I used no matter what the format, Mac OS X or master boot record, hopefully this helps.
