redirecting output

Hi All, I would like to redirect a file (can be document, pdf, etc) from the program it is open in (such as NeoOffice or Skim) directly into Tagit so that I can add metadata without having to go to the saved file and drag the file onto the Tagit icon.

Would be grateful for any suggestions.
