Is the 13-inch 2.26GHz MacBook Pro for me?

I'm interested in my first laptop, the above with 4GB RAM. But I'm wondering if the 2.26 GHz processor has more than enough horsepower for the following:

• Aperture with large RAW files and perhaps also some editing with Photoshop Elements
• Logic Express 9
• Final Cut Express 4

I'd rather not pay more for the 2.53 GHz processor if I don't have to.

It sounds like the 2.26 is going to be fine. You'll get marginally more power out of the 2.53, but nothing too noticeable. Make sure you max your RAM and you'll be fine. It's a great machine. Take care!

Get as much RAM as you can afford.

The 2.26 will probably be enough for your needs, assuming you don't go all out when using programs like Final Cut Pro.

the 2.26ghz will be good, but its indeed best if you max out your ram.

It's a trade off. RAM can give you more significant performance improvements while moving from a 2.26 Ghz to a 2.53 would not give too much of a performance difference. In this instance, the OP would be better off saving some money and just maxing out the ram rather than getting the more expensive laptop and doing the same. If the difference were between a Quad core (not currently offered in Mac Laptops) and a Core 2 duo and the OP needed all the power possible, then the Quad core would be the better option.
