ibook G4 Kernal Panic

On start up my ibook G4 chimes, the apple comes up and then Kernal Panic.
I don't have a start up disc but I did connect it to a MacBook Pro via firewiire and started it as Target. It didn't mount but the Hard Drive did show up in the MBPro Disk Utilities. I did the verify and disk repair and the result was , no problems everything seems to be OK, but when I tried to mount it I was prompted to run disk repair again. I did this 3 times before giving up. Can anyone help ?

Have a read through my post here, and try all of the options mentioned and then report back.
However, iBooks are prone to logic board failure, and this may be the case, though the tell tale sign is usually "the fans of doom". It may just be a faulty HD.
