PowerPoint stops working

My niece has a iMac that she is crazy about. She bought Office for Mac and I installed it for her. It has worked flawlessly until about a week ago when her PowerPoint stopped playing PowerPoint files. It will display the very first frame, then freeze and she has to power down then power back up to return to her emails. Why would it work for a while and now stop? The other components (Word, Excel, etc.) still work fine... only PowerPoint is screwy. Help, please. TIA.

Have you upgraded to version 12.2.3 from the Mactopia web site or running update checker?
