Windows printers

Hi all

Just got my first mac I currently have a HP Laserjet printer connected to my PC & is shared via that pc. I have managed to connect my Mac to that printer but when I print it is giving me an error "On Hold(Authorisation Required)"

I did a quick google & found that I need to set up the printer as "smb//usernameassword@pcname/sharename

So I have done that but still get the error even after trying as a guest & as the usernames that were setup

what model printer?
I just had a three hour headache due to an HP Laserjet that I have.
Some of their laserjets use xqx and for whatever reason HP didn't enable wireless in the driver, but it worked just fine with windows.

its a laserjet 1020. I have installed it using the 1022 gutenprint drivers (1020 & 1022 drivers are interchangable)

So you did get it working then?

no. Its still asking for authorisation
