• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

You've made it clear that you aren't willing or able to spend much money, though that wasn't until after you had already asked your question, "Are there any programs similar to after effect for mac?"
The way your question was worded could have been (and was) construed that you maybe had a Windows version and needed a version for the Mac platform.

There isn't much of anything that is similar to After Effects... and certainly nothing even remotely similar in caliber that would be low cost or free.

If you needed assistance on how to achieve your effect, then the link I provided would help.
If you were trying to get a pirated version that you downloaded to work, then you won't get any help here anyway.

If you have iMovie '09, you can check out this article ( http://chris.pirillo.com/how-to-edit-with-chroma-key-green-screen-videos/ ) if you have a single color for a background (green would be easiest, but the article mentions it can be any color, and like any form of a chroma key, that color really needs to exist only in the background otherwise you'll erase some of what you want to remain). So tape yourself on a solid background, then use the color key functionality of iMovie (assuming you have iMovie '09 - I don't know if you can do it in '08)

Only other option would be - After Effects, or get Final Cut Studio and learn how to use Motion (Final Cuts version of AE). But, back to costing money again... :(
