    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

HI, I am transferring all my old analog 8mm video to my MacBook pro.
I am using Elgato video capture.

The system is very easy to use, but the darker shots are almost black when downloaded.
I can see through the camera's view finder that these shots are not that dark.

I can enhance the images using iMovie, but the quality is not very good.

I am probably going to return the Elgato and try something else.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Elgato Video Capture

regarding the elgato video capture and dark conversion - go into the preferences and you can increase the brightness level. You can also change the contrast which may help a little with blown-out highlights.
