Monitor settings

Buy my self a other monitor yesterday
Resolution 1920 X 1080.
Sometimes when I start up the MAC PRO it starts with a wrong resolution.
Yes I can correct using the monitor
Do MAC has a kind of configfile to fix this strange behavior.
What I mean if something like that happens to me in linux than I put the resolution manually in the configfile.

I did what you mention .
But sometimes it lose the setttings and I get very big picture .
And I have to set it again.
That is why I like to now where it store the settings.

It should hold the settings through restarts and shutdowns. You shouldn't need to do anything anywhere else besides where bobtomay directed you. If the settings aren't holding, there's something going wrong somewhere. What make of monitor is it? (company and model)

If your monitor settings aren't being "remembered"...there's always the possibility that you have a dead PRAM battery.

But this usually doesn't happen unless your computer is at least a few years old...as your Mac Pro may be if it's a 2006 model.

Is the date & time on your Mac Pro correct when you start it up?...if it is...then your PRAM battery is ok.

I did not know that I should restart it .
It is a Samsung 22 inch monitor wide screen.
I choice this one because I use the same brand with my linux box and it gives a good picture.
As you can see from my profile I come from linux and there we store in a file
No my MAC PrO is a new one.
But it is still possible the battery is not good , but unlikely as the date and so on are correct.
But it seems to be OK now

I was responding to your previous statement that sometimes it starts up with the "wrong" monitor resolutions. I just meant that, once you set the resolutions, they should stay that way until you change them yourself, in the manner suggested by bobtomay. They should not change on their own when you restart. If that is happening, something is wrong.
