Hello everyone,

I'm getting a bit impatient with the performance of my powermac using Cs3.

It's a dual 2 GHZ machine running 1GB ram.

It has 250GB internal drive but i keep only bare minimum on the machine itself, most goes onto a pair of external HD's.

Am i right in thinking i should be upgrading the RAM? If so how much to extra ram should i install?

Anything else i should be doing to make it run faster? some of the more complex filters seem to be taking ages!

Thanks for the help,

Rick.

More RAM will help.
It won't make things faster, but it will make Photoshop run more smoothly.

You can also look into setting up your scratch disk if you haven't already.
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, take a look here: Best Way to Set Up Photoshop Scratch Disks?

Thanks for the heads up re:scratch discs.

It won't make the application faster?

Thats the essence of what i'm trying to achieve: reducing the time it takes photoshop to process filters/open and save files :[

RAM doesn't add speed.
It might seem like your system is faster, but in reality it only eliminates the need for applications to swap in and out, in turn making them run smoother and more efficiently.
