curser problems making me curse

curser flashes 4 times then disappears, so have to click to make it reappear, makes it impossible to use word or to type searches or this message (took 5 mins to type this) have just installed lates osx install for snow leopard

using imac :
iMac

Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Check System Prefs > Universal access.
You may have one of the many options there selected.

Expect to reset odd preferences after most updates.
