I use the following hack to move widgets out of and back into Dashboard. "defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES" This Terminal Command hack lets me drag/f12 a widget out of Dashboard, and put it back the same way. I use a MBP.

I tried to give this hack to my daughter who uses a MB. Her keyboard is different. I couldn't figure out how to do it. Does anyone have a clue about how to make this work on the MB type keyboard?

You might have to use fn-f12. Have you tried that?

Yes. fn/f12 was my first thought. It didn't work. One of her other f keys (f4 I think) has the Dashboard symbol on it. It didn't work with the hack either. Interestingly, even though her f4 key is labeled with the Dashboard logo, her /System Preferences/Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts showed f12 as enabled for Dashboard. Both brought up the widgets. But neither would recognize the hack.
