I am the very proud owner of a new 27" iMac, and so far, so good, though I do have one minor niggle,

When the Mac boots up, you get what I can only describe as "Taa Daa" sound, and this happens even when I have external speakers plugged into the audio out, with the external speakers turned off. Is there a way to stop the Mac making this start up sound through its own speakers?

The "Startup Sound Preference Pane" still works well and has even been updated to support Snow Leopard. I use it and have been using it since Leopard.

Regards.

Turn the volume down to "0" before shutting down... works for me!
