Weird account/processor trouble

Hi,

Yesterday I installed 1gb RAM in addition to the 256mb already in the machine.

One of the things I was looking forward to when installing more memory
was to have Cubase SX and NI samplers/softsynths run better.
Today I fired up a project I've been working on in Cubase with 10 different Kontakt/Kompakt instruments and to my suprise it could barely
play the project at all! Worse than with 256mb total ram. I'm running MenuMeters and the processor is at
>90% (while the Cubase project is open) even when I'm not doing anything.

I haven't had any other trouble after installing the new RAM.
So I decided to create a new user account and see if it would work any
better. Launched Cubase in the new account, opened the project and everything plays perfectly. MenuMeters processor monitor is at <60%. What??? There has to be something wrong with my original account.

Anyone have an idea what it could be?
I would like to be able to fix this and keep my original account.
I tried turning off stuff like Konfabulator, Salling Clicker and other stuff
I don't need, but it doesnt help. Also tried the usual stuff like repairing permissions etc.

EDIT: I trashed the /Library/Preferences/Cubase SX/ folder in my original account and it seems to work fine now.

But something is not right...now when I move the mouse over apps in the
Dock the name of the app doesn't show up like it used to. Also when
I move the mouse over menu items they don't "highlight". Will probably
disappear after a restart, but still not so cool...
Any insights to this problem would be helpful.

Thanks,

jp
