I have a couple of devices that need Firewire connection to my 24" iMac - a printer and a scanner. Can anyone recommend some kind of attachment that will increase the number of Firewire connections it is possible to have?

Many thanks!

Something like this, as Dysfunction had mentioned. Keep in mind this is FW 400, not sure but some 24" iMacs might take FW 800?

Firewire is extendible by its very nature.

You can basically network a whole set of powered devices to just one port, since you can daisy chain the devices

I like the idea of daisy-chaining the devices, but exactly how is this done? both of the devices are FW400 and the single port on the iMac is FW800 (why just a single port on a machine produced by Apple, which favoured the FW connection beats me!). Any pointers to a daisy-chaining site that would give precise instructions for a non-techie? :)

I even had to look up to find out what 'daisy-chaining' meant! :)

Take a look at your devices. There are two ports, plug one into your iMac and the other into your next device.

I've got the 24" iMac and it has one of each.
