In garageband for instance, you can select monitor on.
What are you trying to do?

I have an eletric drum kit (Alesis DM5)
I'm trying to run the output cable of my drum brain to the input of my macbook
then play a song on itunes so I can drum while listening to a certain song
does that make sense?
sorry if it doesnt

thanks 6string

Ok, it makes sense what you're trying to do, even though I would plug into an amp or stereo to do what you are doing.... However
If you open garageband, and create a new file, new track, and select real instrument, then in the input source choose mono, select monitor on, then you will be able to hear your drum machine over itunes..... if the sound doesn't come through, just push record and stop, and that should fix it.
