iPhoto import probem

I imported photos from an external drive to iPhoto. Once unplugged the drive and when try to view the photos I am getting an error message “the volume for …………jpg” can not be found. Can someone help.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
If you just drag the photos from that external HD to iPhoto, are you able to view the photos, once that HD is ejected?

I'm also guessing that in iphoto preferences/advanced, the box "copy items to the iphoto library" is not checked.
Check it, and if I'm correct, after that, delete the photos that you imported, and go again.
