Do you really want to compare an app that was released 5 years ago, has never been developed for the Intel Macs with VMWare Fusion 3 released in the last 30 days?

I think a better comparison would Virtual Box and VMware Fusion.

VirtualPC for the Mac had it's last update more than 2 years ago and it has since become deprecated software (see here). VMWare Fusion is new and has much more extensive support than VPC does.

Like Crimson suggested, VirtualBox is an option. The newest release was made available just over two weeks ago and should suit all of your needs (it does for me).

Avoid VirtualPC. Completely useless now. Use Fusion, Parallels or VirtualBox. The first two have free trial downloads and are more full-featured but the latter is free.

Cheers

People are going to think I am a VirtualBox evangelist pretty soon, but the fact of the matter is that I after paying for VMware Fusion I now use VirtualBox! I use it for WinXP and Ubuntu, and can't say enough good things about it. I'm running it on a MacBook Pro 4,1 with SL 10.6.2, 2gb RAM. Obviously more RAM = better performance for virtualization in most cases, but I'm well pleased with the results...
