If you can pause the image (or if it's static long enough) you should be able to use Shift-Command-3 to capture the screen to a file. I've done that while viewing video files, so it should work with a DVD.

Yep. Doing a COMMAND+SHIFT+3 takes a screenshot and saves it on your desktop automatically as a .jpg or .png file.

What are you using to watch your DVD? Quicktime, Front Row, Miro, etc. etc.??

Are you pausing before you attempt the screen shot?

It's a copyright issue. I believe though that VLC will let you do a screen shot playing a video. Give that a try. VLC is handy to have anyway as it plays more types of videos than anything else out there.

??? What problems? One disc? Multiple discs? Is it / Are they clean and/or unscratched?

Have not had any issues playing any of several hundred DVDs on my now 3 yr old Mac using DVD Player that is on every Mac.

If you want another player, grab VLC - am pretty sure it'll be the #1 hit on a google search for it.

You should read the sticky all about screenshots...

The sticky about screenshots is not about videos in Quicktime.

To the OP, if you have issues let us know, but it works here and every time with VLC.

Hello all

Well, now I got the VLC, and I can now view all my dvd`s on my Imac and so on my MacBook.

Yes, it does take screen shots now, but the photos are just black and white squares.

Hmmm......What to do?
I am seeking to take a screen shot and use it as my back ground...

The DVD's I tried worked but they were not copy protected. That probably is the issue. Will try after dinner.

DVD Player does not allow screen shots because of copyrights. There is nothing wrong with it.

VLC does not have this issue.

I just tried a factory DVD that I know for sure has copy protection in VLC. Perfect screen shots.

What keys are you using? I went Command+Shift+4+Space and selected the DVD window.
