I am new to mac and still trying to learn the filesystem architecture. I installed an application and I need to view some of the installed components. In the "/Applications" directory there is only a shortcut to the launcher. Not sure if I should do this or not, but it might help clear up any confusion....in windows it would be :)

C:\Documents and Settings\(Your user name)\Applications\(Name of App)

Thanks for the help

On OSX, applications come packaged as an Application Bundle.

While it may appear to be just a 'launcher' you can inspect the contents of the application by right clicking the application and selecting 'Show Package Contents'. This will allow you to explore the directory structure, files etc of the application.
