these are my only 2 wireless, I have a feeling it may be the Airport card in the iMac going bad cause when I switch to my neighbors wireless I don't get an IP either.

That's a valid point - this is an iMac G4, correct?

Try this on your iMac G4 and copy/paste the results in the forum:

Open Terminal and at the first line type "ifconfig" and hit Enter.

It'll report the status of all your connections.

Try turning off IPv6 on your Airport card, and only use IPv4.

Run "ifconfig en1" in Terminal and post the new results.

This is what one of my Macs looks like connected to the ADBS. Since you could not even connect to the neighbor (Were you able to before this happened?), I am sure it's either something to do with the Airport card or driver in OSX.

this is the results from my card above. inet = IPv4.

For some reason, your IPv4 is not working properly and it says the card is inactive.

If your iMac is totally up to date, you may check to see if Airport got loose in transit and reseat it.

checked the Airport card it is seated good, I even disconnected it and reconnected it...still nothing

I would do a system restore but this system was given to me and did not come with the discs

So now I have to gamble, is it just the card?

Here's one you can try if you know what you're doing:

What is kext,Where is kext, how to Install kext. | OSX86 Basics

At this point most resort to the install discs - they have disk utility and hardware tests. If you can get a hold of one of those it would be beneficial. And to that point you might look for a replacement card.

A reinstall would remove all doubt.
