1080p HD via Mac Mini with 256mb discreet graphics card

Will a Mac Mini with a discreet 256mb graphics card play back 1080p MKV files without frame loss?

My White Macbook with integrated 64mb graphics won't, as a result I'm considering a new Mac Mini as a replacement.

I have been looking into this a lot over the last couple of days. All intel Mac Minis (not 1.5 solo core) can run 1080p. You have to change a couple of settings. Your MacBook should be ok with 1080p.

I assume the MB should be the same as the specs are a little better.

All 2009 Mac Minis have Nvidia discrete graphics.

The 9400M is not a discrete graphics card, it's integrated graphics. Granted, it's a more powerful integrated graphics solution than the Mini has ever had before, but it's still not discrete.

The ability to play high def video ultimately depends on the processor speed. 2GHz is more than enough, so I'm not sure why your Macbook isn't able to play. Is it not starting up at all or does it lag?
