Hi all

I have a 5GB video on my windows laptop and I want to transfer it to my macbook for editing. I have just bought an SanDisk 8GB pen, transferred the video on it and was hoping my mac would read it. When I plugged it into my mac - it's found as an external drive called 'no name' and nothing appears on it. On right clicking the info it states it is 'MS-DOS (FAT32)'

What am I doing wrong?:|

I can copy from my mac to the pen drive but not the other way around.

Any other ideas how I can get my large video file from windows laptop to my macbook?

Many thanks

FAT32 doesn't recognize any video- or other file over 4 GB.
You need to format the drive in NTFS.

that should fix your problem.

NTFS is more than capable of handling files over 4GB. You can use it to transfer your files but note that unless you install some software on your Mac, you won't be able to write to the thumb drive (you can enable r/w support without extra software but if you are a new user, I would recommend avoiding this for now).

Have you thought about setting up a shared folder on either one of your machines and transferring the file that way?
