Computer noob here,

Hey i just hooked up my powerbook g4 12 inch last night to my dell display for the first time via mini-dvi to vac last nigh, but there seems to be problem. for some reason i think my pb thinks that there are two displays and this is a the "second" display. for instance, i'm using logic and i have to drag it way over to to the right and off the screen on my powerbook for it to appear on the dell screen.

So if anyone here can help me i would really appreciate it.
Sorry if i don't have the computer lingo :)

thanks,

Nick

In preferences, there's the display pref pane.
There you can set your prefs to "clone" your display.

You're welcome, and... welcome to the forum;D

Personally I think it's a great feature, enabling you to do things in between without having to minimize the
application window.

Think about it, you have two displays, wile you're actually using one.

On the 12" PowerBook the F7 key cycles through the various external screen configuration options (mirror, extended, off, etc.).
Remember to allow a few seconds for the configuration to change though.

Try running without the two screens set to mirror each other. I think you will like it after a bit. Most applications remember which screen they were on the lat time they were open. So drag the main window to the screen you want it to appear on and you are good to go. I like having the screens in extended rather than mirrored mode so I can put the program on one screen and tool palates on the smaller screen.
