Hi there,
I have an iMac G5 (iSight) which is the older one without the black rim. Recently I've been seeing these strange blue and white lines on the screen. It was ok for a while, but then suddenly, it crashed on boot up. And so now, when I boot in normal mode, the lines show up. The Apple logo and spinning thing come up but then it crashes before reaching the login window.
What is odd though, is that it boots fine in safe mode (still with the blue and white lines however). I've done some research and found that the reason could be either a faulty capacitor, or a rogue graphic kernel. Both seem plausible but I'm not sure what to do now. I had a look at some of the kernels and there are loads! I don't want to risk my computer being destroyed without having expert opinion first.
So anyone with a good knowledge of this type of thing, please step forward.
Thanks a lot,
Hal
