I have Adium, a instant messaging application (for those who didn't know), on my MacBook Pro. I want to have my dock hidden, but I also want the Adium icon to bounce when I receive a new message. Is there any to accomplish this? Currently, when I receive a new message, the icon is bouncing, but I can only see it bouncing when I move my cursor to the bottom of the screen to show the dock? Is there a way to get the app icon to bounce higher? 
Or is there a way to write a script so that the dock only shows itself when there is a new message received on Adium?
