Lost WiFi

So my buddys got a huge problem it seems with his iPhone, his WiFi has stopped working. For whatever reason it doesnt pick up on WiFi spots anymore, I had my phone right next to his and I was able to get on his router, and then at my house on 2 differnt routers, I was able to get WiFi and he wasnt. Could this be a hardware issue? Or has anyone heard of this happening?

Did you try all the troubleshooting steps?

Well I tried restarting it, clearing out all the cached stuff, but he didnt have time to let me try to do a full restore on it.
